Graphic Novels

I have read and I have a few graphic novels in my possession. From what I understand, graphic novels can be thought of as giant sized comic books. Comic books generally have less than 48 pages and graphic novels have 5 to 10 times as much pages, so I am convinced that if I were to write a graphic novel of epic magnitude then I should start practicing as much as possible. This in itself is hard to accomplish since I am currently a medical student. I did draw a 10 page comic of Sonic the Hedgehog when I was still in 3rd grade.

I want to finish my plot and my "universe" in the next 5 months. This will include a rough list of characters and character designs.

I am realistic about this project and I know that this will require maybe at least 3 yearsl but even if it takes me 5 or 10 years I know that I will finish this project of mine. Though, I don't want to take that long. My target is 3 years.

I want to become a published author.

I am working on a graphic novel / sci fi novel or short story. I only have the plot and the concept in mind now so I really don't know where I am going with this yet; but I did have a write a rough of the concept this morning during our Physiology lecture. (you see, I am a med student.)

I revisited this idea last night when I was talking with my girlfriend. She talked about how she wanted to become a flight attendant (and a Doctor at some point). Consequently I revisited my dream of working with Marvel Comics or DC Comics as an artist, but I did (still do) want to become a Comic Book Character and Story Creator though. So this is what I am now aiming for.

I draw still life and portraits and I write. So I am now going to embark on this journey of becoming a published and hopefully well known Comic book Icon.

Today is Day 1.

I have written a rough idea of a plot and a possible list of characters.
